Directions for Preparation and Use:

  • NEOCATE is suitable for infants who are unable to tolerate soy- or hydrolysate-based formulas. Formula dilution will vary depending on the age, body weight and medical condition of the infant.

Note: Powdered infant formula is not sterile. Healthcare professionals may recommend that formula be freshly prepared immediately prior to feeding, especially for immune-compromised infants.

  • Wash hands thoroughly and clean preparation area. Sterilize bottle feeding system.
  • Boil water for 5 minutes and allow to cool for at least 30 minutes so that it feels warm to the wrist.
  • Fill the scoop provided with NEOCATE and level off with a clean, dry knife. Do not press the powder into the scoop.
  • Add the prescribed number of scoops of NEOCATE to the sterilized feeding bottle.
  • Pour the prescribed amount of cooled, boiled water into feeding bottle. Place cap on the bottle and shake until the powder dissolves.

Before feeding, make sure that the formula is lukewarm by placing a few drops on your wrist. Shake immediately before use. Formula prepared in advance must be cooled rapidly, stored in the refrigerator and used within 24 hours of preparation. Formula remaining in the bottle after one hour of feeding should be discarded. Tube feeding “hang time” should not exceed 4 hours.
